2011 Shale Peak Vineyards
Toscano di Solano Sangiovese blend
Produced from a small vineyard on the western slope of Putman Peak in Pleaseants Valley - Solano County. Deprived of water and exposed to extreme summer heat it stuggles to make it to harvest. Co fermentation of a majority of Sangiovese with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, done via natural vineyard yeasts. 2 year neutral french oak barrel aging.
Flavor profile of bright red fruit and decided Sangiovese "grip" tannins presents a compelling case for Italian varietal character.
2012 King Andrews Vineyards
Suisun Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is a darling in the California North Coast and Suisun Valley presents wonderful expressions of the feminine side of this variety.
Soft fine grained tannin is surrounded by bright red berry and currant flavors. Moderate alcohol and a freshness from lower sugar levels resulted in the cool 2011 growing season. Those attributes will extend bottle aging life in cellar.
2013 Shale Peak Vineyards
Tracing back to the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia, Zinfandel has a long California history. Grown on hillside blocks the Shale Peak Solano County Zinfandel shows bright red fruit flavors and a pepper spice tannin, classic to the varietal.
Fermented on indigenous vineyard yeasts and aged in neutral French oak barrels, the vineyard is allowed to express itself fully in the bottle. Small amounts of Petite Sirah have been blended to add color and nuance.
2013 King Andrews Vineyards
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The pride of Napa Valley is Cabernet Sauvignon. This version is from a vineyard planted high in the southeastern mountains of Napa at 2,000 feet and off the volcanic rock associated with Mt George in the Vaca Range. It is a softer Napa Cab than many that are grown in those volcanic rock soils, with fine grain tannin and bright but supple red fruit.
Aged in neutral French oak barrels, the flavors of mocha and vanilla are not present as they are not present in the vineyard either. Oak was not the objective, tasting the fruit of the vineyard was always the objective
2015 King Andrews Vineyards
An Iberian by nature, Albarino is Spain's number one white grape and white wine. It found its way to Suisun Valley in several locations but the McMullin Block planting is 100% estate fruit.
Picked consistently to display the bright acidity and citric nature Albarino can bestow, this wine refreshes in summer as a stand alone yet pairs with shellfish and seafood extremely well year round.
2016 King Andrews Vineyards
Albarino Lot 2
A different twist on producing Albarino that brings a fiz and spritz to this wonderful grape. Using the same lot of 2016 Albarino, juice was bottled directly from tank at end of fermentation and sealed with a crown cap. This captures small amounts of CO2 in the bottle. The wine is completely unfiltered and unfined with no sulfur dioxide added pre-bottling, but at crush. Sediments from this process does bring a cloudiness to the glass, but also new flavors and textures not found in the typical bottling.
